Most of us have learned by hard
experience that not all hubs are created equal. Things
like freewheels that don’t freewheel, or bearings
that fail or seize after a few rides are,
sadly, common complaints for many. At Syncros we have
taken an approach to hub design
that recognizes the shortcomings of many designs and addresses
them in purpose-built
hubs with features intended to maximize durability and
end user satisfaction.
Bearings
We began with bearing design. All Syncros hubs feature
the Quad Bearing System™. We
start with oversize bearings that are packed with Rock
‘n Roll™ grease and double lip
sealed. The bearings are then mounted in the hub in pairs
for maximum stability and
maximum durability: This is the Syncros Quad Bearing System™.
It is unmatched in the
world of hubs.
Our FR/DH front hubs rotate on four bearings located in
the hub shell in such a
way as to optimize their load bearing capacity for increased
lateral stiffness and long life.
The extra loads generated by disc brakes are handled by
the bearings being located
directly under the plane of the rotor. A unique axle design
prevents over tightening of the
QR or thru axle. This keeps the fork legs parallel at
exactly 110mm and allows for
independent adjustment of bearing thrust.
Our DH rear hub is supported
by 6 bearings
Four oversized bearings located in the hub shell and an
additional two in the freehub body.
No other hub can boast the durability of the Syncros Quad
Bearing system hubs.
Factory FLH Disc hub
The FLH Hub is tough, XC light and marathon durable. The
custom, double row angular bearings combine the durability
and toughness of the Quad Bearing System™ with the
proven reliability of an angular mounted ‘loose
ball’ system. The new bearing uses Rock ‘N
Roll™ grease and double lip seals to keep them rolling
healthy for mile after mile.
How it works: The normal cartridge-style bearings commonly
used in light weight hubs are designed for direct rotational
loads. They are not designed to withstand the side loads
generated by freewheels and disc brakes encountered in
bicycle wheels fixed to a frame. We use double row angular
contact bearings in our FLH disc hubs to achieve a “force
offset” that diminishes the side to side loads that
hubs are subjected to. The result: unparalleled durability
of the hub bearings and a bulletproof interface between
the freehub and the hub shell. Compatibility
Need to retro fit a standard dropout with a thru axle?
No problem. Syncros Factory DH
hubs have a wide range of axle configurations. From ‘thru
hole’ to ‘bolt on’, we have a hub
and axle to fit the application. In addition we have unique
end caps which can convert a
freeride style hub to an XC or all mountain hub in seconds.
Our 9 and 10mm QR axles
make for the stiffest connection between conventional
frame and fork dropouts available. Serviceable
All Syncros hubs are fully serviceable.
