When our engineers sat in the first meeting for the new SCOTT Addict RC, the goal from the beginning of the development process was clear, to bring the integration of cable routing to a completely new level.

Clean and uncluttered, our new Syncros combo cockpit allows us to route all the cables completely internally through the bar, headset and ultimately into the frame. The new design is mechanic friendly, efficient and works with any shifting system to offer enormous flexibility for the end user.

Cables

With our new carbon cockpit no cables are visible - be they mechanical, electronic or hydraulic as they are all hidden within the stem and in turn the headset resulting in a super clean look. While it is aesthetically pleasing it also offers aerodynamic benefits to the rider.

Our integrated stem cap results in no bolts being visible on the stem at all. The cover is magnetic and keeps everything hidden.

Clamping

Clamping

Borrowing learnings from our MTB division, we have engineered a clamping system that doesn’t have sharp edges for the carbon, making a stronger and lighter interface. All clamping hardware is fully replaceable.

Construction

Carbon construction is at the heart of Syncros and our unique shape is optimized for this with smooth transitions and no sharp edges especially at the transition point between where a stem and handlebar would normally meet. Carbon works best in flowing lines both from a strength and stiffness point of view.

The unique shape of our bar is no accident. It helps with carbon shaping, weight saving, fiber optimizations and cable routing.

Stiffness/Compliance

Stiffness/Compliance

Through careful attention to the carbon fiber layup, design and geometry we’ve achieved a 26% improvement in sprinting stiffness yet also a 27% increase in compliance (shock absorption). Key to these numbers is in the application of High Modulus carbon fibers in key spots.

The Unique V-shape also allows a better integration of a computer to the bar. Performance riders are always mindful of their numbers and this allows for the optimum placement of your chosen device using our integrated mount developed with industry leaders K-Edge.

Compatible with Garmin, Wahoo and Sigma bike computers.

Ergonomics

Ergonomics is always a tricky topic. Working with our biomechanical and ergonomics partner Gebiomized, we’ve optimized the shape of the bars to work for 5 different hand sizes through pressure mapping technology.

The tops feature an oval shape to cancel pressure points and the drops have a slight flare out for better ergonomics.

Grip options

3D Grip

The tops feature 3D graphics on top of the clear coat which offers superior grip without the need for bartape. Depending on personal preference and for those with larger hands, you can also use bar tape on the tops.

Clamping

Compact shape

The hoods have a smooth transition and palm support. The drops have a compact shape to allow for the best balance for climbing and sprinting.

Available in the following widths and virtual stem extensions (equivalent to the length of a normal stem):

  • 380mm width – virtual extension 90mm, 100mm, 110mm
  • 400mm width – virtual extension 90mm, 100mm, 110mm, 120mm, 130mm
  • 420mm width - virtual extension 100mm, 110mm, 120mm, 130mm
  • 440mm width - virtual extension 120mm, 130mm, 140mm

However the story doesn’t end here. We wanted to create a similar product for the lower spec models, a fully integrated bar and stem that would give the same aesthetic and performance benefits to the rider but using a more traditional setup.

The new Creston iC 1.5 handlebar and RR iC stem work together to completely hide the cables on the bike in a unique, mechanic friendly way. The stem can be disassembled in such a way as to allow for its complete removal without cutting the hydraulic brake lines. This allows a mechanic to easily change the stem size or service the drivetrain cables – whether electronic or mechanical, a true industry first.

Integration

The design mimics our one piece carbon cockpit in many ways with full design and cable integration.

Cables

Cables are all routed inside the stem / below plastic covers.

This is the only stem with integrated cable routing for mechanical shifting.

Construction

Again mirroring our carbon cockpit the RR iC stem features a magnetic steerer cap to hid all the hardware and also features an optional integrated computer mount that attaches directly to the stem face plate.
